The content of the course has been designed to fit around the requirements necessitated by the National Occupational Standards for Health and Safety. Put in place by the Skills Council, they provide an effective and efficient code of practice specifically tailored to suit the construction industry.
The course is assessed in two ways; the first two units are covered by a written exam. They are then marked by NEBOSH external examiners. The third unit is a practical exam and is based within the workplace. It tests the principles of health & safety within a construction site environment and is administered by the course provider. This third section has to be completed within a 14 day period of the first written part of the exam.
Upon successful completion of the exams, you will receive a National Certificate in Construction Health and Safety. This is on a par with a Level 3 NQF in England; essentially A level grade.
Going forward there are plenty of options to enable you to move towards both the National General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety and the National Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety.
You do not need to have in place any formal entry requirements. This National Certificate is specifically designed to suit managers and supervisors who are involved in the construction industry. You will need to have some experience of working on site and a good level of English.
